Village residents are urged to visit the park located at the First Responders Recreational Ball Field and take advantage of its amenities.
In addition to a state-of-the-art baseball field complete with a memorial, bleachers and a concession stand, the park has a walking path and exercise stations. There is also a playground where children can climb, swing and slide.
The village recently purchased a pitching machine to help ballplayers improve their hitting skills and intends to install a batting cage and bullpens in time for next season.
When the ball field is not in use, residents can use it for themselves. Valid proof of village residency must be produced before being allowed onto the field.
Residents can also access the park for non-profit and commercial uses. For more information, contact Denise Schrage, Village Commissioner of Parks and Recreation at dschrage@newvillageofislandia.com or by calling Village Hall at 631-348-1133.
