On December 7, the Village of Islandia held its 19th annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony. Over five hundred residents showed up to hear holiday songs and enjoy cookies and hot chocolate. Children mailed their letters to Santa and received candy canes from Mrs. Claus. After the Christmas tree was lit, Santa Claus arrived and gave out toys to the good boys and girls of Islandia.
