Bomb-Sniffing Dogs Hunt for “Explosives”

On September 11, the Village of Islandia hosted the New York Police Department’s Transit Bureau K-9 Unit at its annex building to conduct a demonstration of how these police dogs search for explosives.

Officers brought in two explosive detection canines, “Devon” and “Simi.” Inside the building, the dogs went from room to room to find hidden “explosive odors.” The dogs undergo four to five months of training before going out into the field.
