On July 13, more than 800 Islandia Village residents braved the wet weather and came out to the 8th Annual BBQ. Local elected officials also attended the event to have the opportunity to meet with Mayor Allan M. Dorman and village residents.

Village employees and local Boy Scouts volunteered their time serving residents hamburgers, hot dogs, ice cream, soda and water. Children enjoyed the day with hayrides, a dunk tank, games, pony rides, a petting zoo, arts and crafts; face painting, and piñatas. Some also received balloon animals from some of the friendly clowns in attendance.

In addition, Mayor Dorman hosted a blueberry pie eating contest with the winners getting a blueberry pie. The village also had its DWI Awareness program, in which those on peddle carts donned a pair of goggles to simulate the effects of being intoxicated and attempted to navigate a course designed by the village’s Public Safety Department. There was also live music for the people to enjoy.
