Trash Pick-Up

The collection of garbage and trash in the Village of Islandia follows this schedule:

Monday: (Bulk Pick-Up) Up to six (6) garbage containers containing household garbage plus up to three (3) bulk items, such as small furniture, mattresses, and appliances. You may put out up to six (6) bags of leaves or six (6) tied bundles of brush (NO grass clippings).

Wednesday: WRAP. This includes glass, metal, plastic, or newspapers (see BAD WRAP). Please follow your WRAP schedule below.

Thursday: (Regular Household Garbage) Up to six (6) garbage containers containing household garbage ONLY.

All household garbage must be in garbage pails with lids. Loose items must be in pails or tied in bundles. The village carting company CAN NOT remove oil burners, water heaters, propane tanks or tree stumps. Please arrange with the appropriate contractors for the removal of these items.

Garbage and trash must be placed at curbside no earlier than the night before pick-up, but no later than 6:00 A.M. on the day of pick-up.

We hope you have received your 2012 WRAP calendar, and if you would like additional copies or would like a WRAP decal for your garbage pail, please contact the village and we will be happy to send one to you. You can also stop by Village Hall and pick one up, or refer to the following calendar:

Recycling is mandatory in the Village of Islandia, and it helps us minimize the costs of disposal. Non-compliance may result in a court appearance.

Islandia Residents Beware…
Recycling any of the following materials will give you a BAD WRAP.
Please place them out with your regular garbage, instead.

• NO food boxes, cereal boxes
• NO egg cartons, paper towel rolls
• NO pizza boxes
• NO aluminum foil, pie pans
• NO gift boxes, gift wrap
• NO milk cartons, juice cartons
• NO microwavable trays, polystyrene cups
• NO motor oil containers
• NO plastic bags
